The Municipality of Afandou
Afandou (18.5 km from Rhodes town)
Invisible from the sea as its name in Greece indicates for fear of pirates during the long-gone difficult times of raids, lies the village of Afandou. Afandou is one of the oldest Rhodian villages with its roots deep in history and tradition. In the square with its rubber plants are a host of coffee houses, cafes and patisseries. There are quite a few traditional stone houses.
Kolympia (25 km from Rhodes town)
This is a low profile coastal resort with scattered hotels, few restaurants and shops and a relaxed atmosphere. The entrance to the village from Evkalipton St. is impressive. A verdant street with trees whose branches almost touch the ground. The hotels are situated along the length of the pebbly beach.
This is a picturesque rural village ideal for rambling or cycling. Just outside the village amid pine forest lies the monastery of Aghios Nektarios where one can rest under the shade of the immense pine tree drinking the refreshing water that comes down from the springs in the surrounding hills.
